Its grand to be a Nomad!

Friday 8th August: fellow Nomad, Jim Rudge, drops an idea on me that grabs my imagination. “Hey Shuggie, why don’t we try and sponsor one of the team’s shirts?”

Within an hour, PTFC NOMAD News-mail # 16 has been knocked together and sent to the current Branch Club membership of 156 Nomads.

I was pretty hopeful of succeeding in reaching the target of sponsoring a shirt given that the Nomads on the JT race night, earlier this year, had sponsored a race and contributed heavily the funds raised. Little did I know!!

Friday 15th August:. 46 Nomads have raised over a GRAND in a week with more coming in.

This “£1,000 in a week” indicates the level of interest and potential mutual benefit there is to be had from forging stronger links to / from Thistle and this Supporters Club. We are fans, albeit distant ones. With stronger internet based links we can grow even stronger.

I thought a good bit about which kit (from those left to sponsor) would best reflect the nature of the Nomads, those who actually contributed, where they live and any message we would like to convey by the players selected.

First of all, the 3 shirts will be Away Shirts to reflect the physical distance separating us (but not the emotional)

Simon Storey is selected because he too is from a distant place, one of the prime criteria I had in mind.
Pedram Ardalamy is selected as he is another lad who is far from home and close family.

Simon Donnelly is selected as he is one of players of the season so far. Delighted to secure him and reflect the high regard in which he is held.

Thanks to recognition of this Nomadic push by the Club, I can also reveal that additional mystery prizes will be raffled when all monies have been collected; prizes that will delight the winners as they won’t have to wait till the end of the season unlike the 3 shirt raffle winners!
