Partick Thistle v Dunfermline Athletic
The Jags start off their league campaign this Saturday with a home game against Dunfermline Athletic. Will it be Thistle’s year? Or will we see a battle to stave off relegation or middle of the league mediocrity? These questions will not be answered on Saturday, no matter if we win, lose or draw.
Ian McCall has more or less a full squad to pick from, except long time injury victims Alan Archibald and Liam Buchanan, and I am sure our manager is working hard to bring in one or two new faces to bolster our squad for Saturday or in the near future.
It was a Stevie Crawford strike that was enough to take the points back to Fife last April but prior to that, the last win by Dunfermline at Firhill was five games back on the opening day of the 1988-89 season. The Jags also knocked the Pars out of the Scottish Cup in a thriller in January.
Dunfermline’s team last time out in a friendly against Stirling Albion was as follows
Paul Gallagher: Greg Shields, Scot Wilson[Capt.,] Scot Thomson, Neil McCann, Calum Woods, Nick Phinn Stephen Glass, Alex Burke, Kevin Harper, Graham Bayne.
This is going to be an important season for the “Jags” so lets get right behind the team on Saturday and roar them on to victory and when we have won, lets get down to the tavern and join in the fun.
