Well ,its hats off to Eddie Izzard who has just completed the last of the 43 marathons he’s run in 51 days to raise cash for charity.Thats a total of 1127 miles he’s ran over the length and breadth of Britain.

This achievement is just overshadowed this week by the fact that Partick Thistle has survived one hundred years of playing  football at Firhill.

The first game played at Firhill in 1909 was a 2nd round Scottish qualifying cup - tie against Dumbarton Harp whose centre forward Carr had the honour of scoring the first goal ever at our hallowed ground. Thistle eventually raised their game and ran out 3-1 winners, a result that would suit us fine this Saturday.

The Jags have decided not to appeal against Liam’s red card, so it could mean a place for Doolan up front. If the team plays with the same spirit they showed last week, it could mean a visit to the tavern for a special celebratory drink or two after the game.

Happy Birthday Firhill
