Posted by Kieron on June 23rd, 2009 in Category News | No Comments »

Saturday saw Partick Thistle and the Jags Trust take on the south side of the city.  At the invitation of the organisers, Partick Thistle’s Head of Youth Development John Henry and Trust Board Representative and club Community Director Kieron Dempsey attended the Govanhill Festival. The area itself has had a large influx of immigrants over the last few years and the purpose of this event is to create opportunities to celebrate diversity and create opportunities for interaction amongst the different ethnic groups within the area.  Read More »

How to make easy cash for the Jags Trust.

Posted by Alan Murray on June 1st, 2009 in Category News | No Comments »

We are going to raise some free cash for the Jags Trust. This first part will only take around ten minutes and around £16 will go to the Trust.

Raise funds for free

First if you have not already registered then do this here http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/Register/

Fill in your details and pick the Jags Trust as your Charity / Organisation. Jags trust is under‘t’.

1.    I love film trial – You get two free films as part of the trial and £8 pounds makes its way to the trust! As long as you cancel the subscription no charge will be made to your card. I opted to keep the service going because of the excellent service and the fact you don’t need to bother dropping of the DVD at the local hire shop – you just need to post it off!. Fancy watching “Slumdog Millionaire” and “Yes Man”for free?

2.    Register with e bay - Everybody uses E bay right? If you set up an account through the Easyfundrasing link and make a bid within 30 days then £4 makes its way to the Jags Trust. I am sure Willjag has some more Jags Trust auctions on the way shortly.  Remember also that shopping through the Easyfundraing link means that the Trust gets a 15% Donation on every purchase made on e bay!

3.    The national lottery online – register online and purchase a ticket and £2 makes its way to the Jags Trust. It is far more convenient to play online anyway. You will need your credit/debit card ready. Why wait in a big queue every week – you don’t even need to check your ticket as it tells you when you are a winner!

4.    T-Mobile – 2 free pay you go SIM cards. All you need to do is give your e mail and address and two free sim cards are yours. This gives a £1.00 donation to the trust.

5.    Mazuma Mobile - Recycle Your Old Mobile Phone for Cash and earn 75p for your cause. You must have seen the TV ads. If you have an old phone you don’t use you can earn cash by sending it to this company. You can do a search for your mobile on their website to see how much you will get. It earns a 75p donation to the trust and you receive some extra cash for your old mobile.

6.    Tesco Mobile - 60p Donation When You Order 1 or 2 Free Sim Cards From Tesco Mobile. All you need to do is enter your address and email to get free sim cards and 60p makes it way to the trust.

We now have raised £16.35 for just a few minutes work! This will not show straight away in your total as some take a short while to show. Remember that you need to bid within 30 days of opening your e bay account to activate the donation to the JT. Also the I love film subscription will need to be cancelled if you don’t want to continue the service.  Look out for part two were will be completing the free funds section.

Easy fundraising rises from the dead!

Here is an extract of the Jags Trust site on how to use Easy fundraising to rake the cash in for the Trust.

“Easy Fundraising is a great way for you to contribute to the Jags Trust as you shop online.  It doesn’t cost you a thing - all you have to do is register on the site and access your favourite on-line shops via their website.

All of the purchases you make in this way will result in a contribution being made to your chosen cause - in our case, the Jags Trust!

Just register on the Easy Fundraising website and you will be able to go to a wide range of well known and reputable on-line shops.  It’s more than likely that your favourite internet shop will be there.

When you register you will also be asked to select your chosen cause - please note that we are registered as The Jags Trust and thus appear on the listing under T!”

Please also take a look at the free funds section http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/raise_funds_for_free/

As Thistle fans head up to Dundee for the last game of the season, I am sure most of them will be happy on the progress the team have made, and all will look forward to the start of next season hoping that the main players will still be with us and also the team will be strengthened by the inclusion of at least three new quality players. That will mean this time next year we could be down in the Tavern celebrating our promotion to the SPL.

It is usual for the players that are leaving us to be given some time on the park on our last game to say goodbye to the fans, but the way Chappie limped into the player of the year dance last Saturday and also  that Simon Donnelly has been carrying an ankle knock this may not happen this year.Mr. McCall could add couple of our promising youngsters to the squad and they could be given some part to play in the latter stages of the game.

When Casey Anderson got married this week he had his best friend Bruno by his side.”What’s strange about that?” Well, nothing, except Bruno is a seven foot grizzly bear!
Oh how the Jags could do with a 7 foot grizzly next to Liam on Saturday. We are in the last chance saloon now and a win is a must on Saturday.

Liam should start but may only last 60-70mins. Stephen Mckeowns injury is causing much concern and will not play and of course Gary Harkins is still suspended.

Airdrie United are in the relegation mire and will be fighting for their lives  so we are in for a nervous ninety minutes with our eyes on the game and one ear on the trannie.
