With sickness prevalent throughout the corridors of Firhill, the hunt is on for the suspect who was sick over the prototype new all-white away strip!! Let’s hope that Jags fans leaving Firhill on Saturday will not be feeling sick and will be heading to the Tavern for a victory drink.

It looks like a last minute selection for Mr. McColl as he awaits the Doctors report on various players’ fitness after the bug. Paul Cairney is rated very doubtful.

Airdrie’s squad will include ex Jags Marc Smyth, Ricky Waddell and Paul Keegan .New signing Tom Parrat [Don't catch the sickness bug Tom] could play.

Well ,its hats off to Eddie Izzard who has just completed the last of the 43 marathons he’s run in 51 days to raise cash for charity.Thats a total of 1127 miles he’s ran over the length and breadth of Britain.

This achievement is just overshadowed this week by the fact that Partick Thistle has survived one hundred years of playing  football at Firhill.

The first game played at Firhill in 1909 was a 2nd round Scottish qualifying cup - tie against Dumbarton Harp whose centre forward Carr had the honour of scoring the first goal ever at our hallowed ground. Thistle eventually raised their game and ran out 3-1 winners, a result that would suit us fine this Saturday.

The Jags have decided not to appeal against Liam’s red card, so it could mean a place for Doolan up front. If the team plays with the same spirit they showed last week, it could mean a visit to the tavern for a special celebratory drink or two after the game.

Happy Birthday Firhill

Thistle make their first visit to Starks Park since 2006. John McGlynn’s side has made an impressive start to their first division campaign with taking 8 points out of 12 and currently top of the table. They are likely to lineup with former jags captain Grant Murray in the defense.

A virus has spread through the Thistle squad with Paddy Boyle, Willie Kinniburgh. Liam Buchanan, Mark Corcoran and Ricky Little all affected. They all trained on Thursday and Ian McCall expects all to be fit. Stephen McKeown will still be missing however.

What price a Scotland and Thistle double? Or will it be hangover time at 5pm on Sunday? Will the Jags butcher the Caley or will Caleys burly forwards win the game for them? No matter what, let’s hope it’s a good game with plenty of goals.

Thistle has injury concerns over Ian Maxwell and Paul Paton and it could be a last minute decision on these two, otherwise the Jags have a full compliment to pick from.

No News from the Caley camp yet regarding their line up but we hear that Lee Cox is a player to look out for, also Jags fans may be happy to have another look at Danni Sanchez, who looked a promising player while on trial with us.

On their way to Firhill this Saturday, Jags fans will not be asking “will we win to day”. It will be more like “will we score?” Anyway, come three o’clock, I am sure Mr. McCall will have come up with the answer to the problem and will put out a team that will bring our first three points in the league this season. Ian has more or less a full squad to pick from, so a visit to the tavern after the game could be on the cards.

Morton travel to Firhill with a major goalkeeping problem with their three top goalkeepers out injured. The problem is so bad that they had to register goalkeeping coach 43year old David Wylie, to cover for 19 year old rookie Ryan McWilliams.

A name for Jags fans to fear this Saturday is Peter Weatherson.A gentleman with a similar sounding name caused the Jags no end of trouble in our last two games.

A Couple in New Zealand awoke this week to find a naked man in their bed !The Australian had been staying with another guest, but during the night he wandered into the couples room. After admitting he couldn’t remember his friends name or room number the police gave him a ride home. With the travel difficulties getting home from  Dumfries, maybe the quickest way  would be a ride home with Strathclydes finest.

Ian McCall travels down to Palmerston with a problem, who to play up front. With Doolan, Hamilton and Sid all playing well and scoring at Forfar, the question is should he bring back Liam? It looks like Liam will start on the bench.

Queen of the South who are managed by 2 ex Jags in Gordon Chisholm and Kenny Brannigan, had a great victory against Dunfermline on Tuesday. I am sure Jags fans will give a warm welcome to ex Jag David Lilley and ex Airdrie Willie McLaren.

On Tuesday, the country set donned their Berber jackets, jumped into their 4×4’s and set off to the moors for the start of the game season. This Saturday, Jags fans will be putting on their beloved strips and heading to Firhill for the game to start off our season at home against Ross County.

Ian McColl should be able to add the name of Willie Kinniburgh to his pool after Willies return to action in “Archie’s” testimonial on Tuesday night. If the rumours are right, we will be missing Liam Buchanan and possibly Stephen Mckeown

Ross County travel down to Firhill with ex Jags Scott Boyd and Paul Di Giacomo in their pool, Stuart Kettlewell and Steven Craig are well known faces to Jags fans and they will be in Derek Adams thoughts for Saturday, also in the pool will be ex Celt and Inverness Jag, Ian Vigurs and the “John Carew” of Ross County, 6′2” Garry Woods.
