Sorry for taking so long to get this up. The lucky winner of the strip was MMCF(aka Paul Dorrian).
Thanks to everybody who contributed. Even my Girlfriend who gave a tenner saying that it was cheap at the price to stop me moaning for a little while!

On their way to Firhill this Saturday, Jags fans will not be asking “will we win to day”. It will be more like “will we score?” Anyway, come three o’clock, I am sure Mr. McCall will have come up with the answer to the problem and will put out a team that will bring our first three points in the league this season. Ian has more or less a full squad to pick from, so a visit to the tavern after the game could be on the cards.
Morton travel to Firhill with a major goalkeeping problem with their three top goalkeepers out injured. The problem is so bad that they had to register goalkeeping coach 43year old David Wylie, to cover for 19 year old rookie Ryan McWilliams.
A name for Jags fans to fear this Saturday is Peter Weatherson.A gentleman with a similar sounding name caused the Jags no end of trouble in our last two games.

Standing in a rather long queue waiting to get my ticket to get in, I overheard Lance being told there was a late change in the line up. This change turned up to be Bryan Hodge who had suspected conjunctivitis. McCall then turned to David Rowson - who was expected to be rested for this game due to a sore shoulder.

The day started pretty well actually, it was sunny, the drive to Dumfries was pleasant enough and we had a most enjoyable lunch in a cafe overlooking the river Nith (it was actually overlooking a car park next to the river but I’m trying to paint a picture here ok?).

A Couple in New Zealand awoke this week to find a naked man in their bed !The Australian had been staying with another guest, but during the night he wandered into the couples room. After admitting he couldn’t remember his friends name or room number the police gave him a ride home. With the travel difficulties getting home from Dumfries, maybe the quickest way would be a ride home with Strathclydes finest.
Ian McCall travels down to Palmerston with a problem, who to play up front. With Doolan, Hamilton and Sid all playing well and scoring at Forfar, the question is should he bring back Liam? It looks like Liam will start on the bench.
Queen of the South who are managed by 2 ex Jags in Gordon Chisholm and Kenny Brannigan, had a great victory against Dunfermline on Tuesday. I am sure Jags fans will give a warm welcome to ex Jag David Lilley and ex Airdrie Willie McLaren.

In the lead up to last week’s Alan Archibald testimonial Chic Charnley said of Alan : ‘…he is one of those players that you don’t notice him when he’s in your team but when he’s not there you miss him.’ Well, as Alan, returning from injury, once again led out Thistle up at Forfar in a potentially very difficult Alba cup tie I hoped Chic’s slightly back handed choice of compliment would ring true and that Archie would have a quietly efficient evening marshalling the Thistle rearguard. On Tuesday, the country set donned their Berber jackets, jumped into their 4×4’s and set off to the moors for the start of the game season. This Saturday, Jags fans will be putting on their beloved strips and heading to Firhill for the game to start off our season at home against Ross County.
Ian McColl should be able to add the name of Willie Kinniburgh to his pool after Willies return to action in “Archie’s” testimonial on Tuesday night. If the rumours are right, we will be missing Liam Buchanan and possibly Stephen Mckeown
Ross County travel down to Firhill with ex Jags Scott Boyd and Paul Di Giacomo in their pool, Stuart Kettlewell and Steven Craig are well known faces to Jags fans and they will be in Derek Adams thoughts for Saturday, also in the pool will be ex Celt and Inverness Jag, Ian Vigurs and the “John Carew” of Ross County, 6′2” Garry Woods.
PARTICK THISTLE 1 LIVERPOOL XI 1
Alan Archibald Testimonial
Match report-Tuesday 11 August 2009
by Partick the Dog (with assistance from Wee Honk)
On Saturday 5th April 1997, at East Fife’s old Bayview Stadium in front of less than 1000 fans, Murdo MacLeod unfolded his arms long enough to usher into the action a bullet-headed young defender to play his part in a 2-0 victory. Unlike other participants on that fateful day, such as “Big” Jim Slavin and Hreinn “Turbo” Hringsson, whose Thistle careers crashed and burned, Alan Archibald has over the past dozen years built himself into the archietexture of Partick Thistle Football Club.
