This was the game that both teams had to win and in a sense both lost. However the game itself turned out to be an entertaining enough affair with both sides working hard right to the final whistle in order to gain all three points. Manager McCall fielded the same team that had performed so well the previous Saturday and it wasn’t long before Thistle had their first effort on goal. Only minutes after the start Harkins took a free kick but fired in a poor shot that Doolan also failed to connect with in front of the goal. The Dundee defence which had to work hard to neuter the threat and get the ball away looked unsettled. Paton was next to test the Douglas with a strong, low shot from 20 yards out but this one was easily dealt with by the former old firm keeper. (more…)

The general consensus of fans heading down the Firhill way after the Clyde game was…..Is the Jags dream of promotion over for another season? After two great victories on the road and with our main competitor dropping points, we are now back in the mix again. We have seven cup finals ahead of us,starting with our televised game [B.B.C ALBA] against Dundee this Sunday so lets keep the pot boiling and get right behind the team and roar them on to victory.

Ian McCall says that Liam Buchanan will not feature and Willie Kinniburgh will only be brought on if needs must. John Robertson and Simon Donnelly are doubtful.

Dundee, who are providing free buses for their fans to travel through, have Colin Cameron and Jim Lauchlan available for selection after injury.

Will Dundee fans return home with their bonnets in the air? Or will the Jags be celebrating down in the Tavern once again?

It has always been a problem particular to Partick Thistle fans, if you believe in lazy stereotyping, that the conclusion to the football season inevitably coincides with the sharp end of the academic calendar. So it was that three years ago I found myself dancing on the pitch at Peterhead only 24 hours before my first exam. Three years on, not much has changed as once again my heart ruled my head and a dissertation in disarray was left to stew as I made another trip based, once again, far more on hope than expectation. The dream of having your own tropical island came true for a four-year old boy this week.He won a lottery giving him exclusive use of an idylic island with white
sand beaches and crystal clear water.
Now what would you do if you won the lottery?Buy an idylic island with white sand
beaches and crystal clear waters,or would you do the right thing and take over Partick Thistle!

The battle scarred Thistle squad head for East End Park with great hope rather than confidence. The last time the Jags won in the league at Dunfermline was over 26 years ago,and in 1959 they suffered one of their worst defeats in their history, losing 10-1 to a Pars team fighting off relegation, but hope springs eternal, and I am sure the team will give 100% and send the fans home to the tavern, with the
knowledge of another three points in our pockets in the drive for promotion.

Lets give the team another “show of colours” when they run out on Saturday in appreciation of their magnificent win “up the road” on Tuesday night and also to spur them on to a historic victory against the”Dunfie”

Dunfermline have Calum Woods suspended but Kevin Harper,Graham Bayne and Graeme Homes may return.

Match report: Ross County 0-2 Partick Thistle

Without a reporter at the game we missed the chance to celebrate a great victory over our bogie team Ross County. This was always going to be a difficult match, but it seems that Ian McCall’s men were ready to make amends for the poor performance served up on Saturday. By all accounts this was an excellent performance from the Jags: two goals from Kris Doolan in a magic two minutes sealing the victory and three points for Thistle.

McCall had made changes to saturday’s side with Chaplain and Akins being given a start. Paton dropped to the bench, but McCall kept faith with goalkeeper Tuffey. The changes seemed to have the desired effect and the side obviously responded with such an excellent away win. Much concern over last night’s match revolved around the striking prowess of County’s ‘new’ signing Craig Brewster. Fortunately, although always a threat, the defence was up to the mark. Indeed a number of the best chances came to the Jags in the first half with both Harkins and Doolan providing the main threat.

Doolan showed himself to be a major threat to the home side and had the ball inside the County net just after the start of the second half, but this was ruled offside. Minutes later he again game close with the ball going wide. Only ten minutes later, in the 67th minute, his persistence paid off and after a cut back from Twaddle, he put the ball into the back of the net to put the Jags one up. Two minutes later he doubled our lead this time taking a pass from McKeown and puting it into the net.

Although other results went our way somewhat, the St. Johnstone one did not, so Thistle remain four points behind the leaders who still have a game in hand. However, there is still a chance that we can take this fight right to the end of the season. All we need is to maintain our drive forward and hope that the Saints slip up on two occasions. The promotion race is not over yet.

With Thistle going down the Clyde on Saturday, a big effort is needed to get the necessary three points on Tuesday against Ross County. The Jags will head up the A9 knowing this is about our last chance to stay in the promotion race.”The Staggies” who have taken all the points off Thistle this season, will be going for a full house and with new signing Craig Brewster likely to play at the age of 42,this is going to make our Simon Donnelly feel like a youngster.

The David Hamilton lounge at the ground will be open from 6pm for snacks etc.,All welcome.

To-days report[Monday] from Dingwall is that the pitch is very heavy and will not take anymore rain, allthough the outlook is for dry weather. Anybody traveling should keep in touch with Ross County or the official site before leaving.

News broke this week that made airline passengers throughout the country stock up on £1.00 coins.Ryanair is Considering charging us to use the toilets on their flights.

Well! The only “P “I am interested in is the famous Partick Thistle and considering I go to the Toilet about fifteen times on a flight it would mean I would be able to get into Firhill for that.

Mr McCall will probably have another role call before selecting the team for Saturday with Liam Buchanan still having trouble with his groin and John Robertson suffering with a leg knock.

This is a “Show your Colours” game, so lets hope we are still showing them in the Tavern after the game.
