Livingston v Partick Thistle
Irn Bru Scottish Football League Division One
Saturday 28 February 2009
Almondvale
Reporter Tom Hogg
Attendance 2876

Referee S McLean

Thistle left Almondvale with all three points after a thoroughly entertaining ninety minutes packed with goals, honest graft, the usual smattering of misplaced passes and two moments of sublime genius. Add in the reappearance of Armand One, playing for the only club he’s ever wanted to play for, a bizarre pre match ritual involving buying tickets from a wee booth (where else would you have to do that?) and Signor Massone having one of his capos reading out an almost incoherent public statement (for whose benefit?) and you have a recipe for a great February afternoon that would otherwise be spent watching the egg chasers. Indian cricketers were sent running for cover this week when a helicopter pilot mistook their cricket  pitch for a landing pad.The chopper landed suddenly on a giant “H” painted on the ground which was actually the symbol for the home team!
If you’re lost for somewhere to touch down this Saturday, then get your team colours on and head for Almondvale and cheer the “jags” onto victory in our push for promotion.

Ian McCall should have nearly a full squad to pick from,a few will be carrying injuries, but I am sure that will not stop them wanting to play to a game that can keep us in the hunt for promotion.

For the Lions, Chris Innes is suspended, which may cause a problem for Livingston to cover

Manager McCall made only two changes to the team that lost to Dunfermline in an entertaining match last Saturday with Robertson replacing Kinniburgh and McKeown replacing Chaplain. Updating the official website www.ptfc.co.uk, a member of the Alan Archibald’s testimonial committee, co-wrote the Partick Thistle Legends book and just to round things off has been co-opted back onto the Jags Trust board. A position he has previously held.

This was an entertaining encounter which both teams had to win to keep their promotion aspirations alive. On a fairly mild day for the time of year the fans were treated to an exciting end to end encounter that had everything to entertain the neutral fan, close shots, good passing, a controversial sending off and a penalty kick drama.
