JAGS BLOWN AWAY AS SAINTS STORM TO VICTORY
Another game at McDiarmid, another defeat. These matches are hardly worth reporting on given the regularity with which the Jags leave pointless from Perth. (more…)
In 1396 the Battle of the Clans took place on the North Inch of Perth. This was a gladiatorial fight to the death to settle a long running feud between the powerful Chattan and Mackay clans. 30 warriors from each formed before Robert III. All Mackays died, except one who swam the Tay, to the loss of 10 Chattans. Legend has it that the Chattans were a man short so a local saddler was paid to take the place. He survived, having joined the winning side!
Lets hope history doesn’t repeat itself at Bertha ‘”he Celtic name for Perth” although many Jags fans have thought we have been playing with a man short for quite a few weeks.
Mr.McCall has nearly a full squad to pick from, only Archibald and Roberts are out
St Johnstone have Kevin Moon and Colin Samuel out.
There will be a minute silence as a mark of respect for St Johnstone’s Charlie McFadyen, the club’s second top appearance maker who passed away last week.

It was another grim and oft-repeated episode of East Enders as Thistle yet again departed scoreless and pointless from Dunfermline’s East End Park, a 36th minute strike from Andy Kirk being enough to secure the win for the home team. (more…)

The sun shone brightly over Firhill but not on Thistle’s fortune as the Jags failed to progress to the final of the ALBA Challenge cup falling to a soft goal scored in just three minutes by the visitors. To date this was Thistle’s best performance in a tournament that Airdrie in their different forms had on four occasions been finalists : winning three times as Airdrieonians and losing once as Airdrie United in 2003 - 2004 to Inverness Caledonian Thistle by two goals to nil.

By Ben “The Arch” Archibald
A quarter of the season has already passed, and where the first division trophy is headed, is anybody’s guess. In past years there was usually a leading pack by this stage, with Hamilton and Dundee breaking away at the start of last season, and Thistle somehow leading the table 2 seasons ago, with St Johnstone and Gretna trailing just behind. I blanked out the rest of that season for some reason.
